Championship Day — 13th March, 2016

13 Mar 2016

Last Sunday, Maryborough Little Athletics Centre concluded its summer athletics season with its annual Championship Day.

Athletes chose their four favourite events, then put in excellent performances, setting personal bests along the way.

Under 6 athlete Charlie Rumpff had a truly spectacular day out, setting a new centre record in every single event she competed in.

Brianna Tranter added around 50cm to her Triple Jump personal best with an excellent jump of 8.26 metres.

The cross-country season starts on 29th April with an initial run at the Jack Pascoe reserve. Cross country events start at 4pm.

Star awards

The major set of awards presented on Championship Day are the 'Star Awards' that reward athletes based on the number of personal bests they achieved during the season.

They emphasise the Maryborough Little Athletics Centre philosophy of valuing personal improvement over competition with other athletes.
